I’m swimming in November for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to swimming this November for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Swimming 10k For Sands

Sunday 12th Oct
Arriving excitedly at our 2 week scan following a successful IVF cycle, I laid on the bed, waiting in anticipation to see the tiny blob appear on the screen. After what felt like an eternity the nurse the nurse scabbing the screen said "I'm so sorry but there's no pregnancy" and everything after that is an utter blur. 

Waiting for the miscarriage to pass was the longest, most painful experience of my life and it felt like I had noone at all to reach and talk to. Someone who understood the trauma my mind and body was going through.

This November I'm swimming 10k to raise money for Sands, a charity that supports anyone affected by pregnancy ladder or the death of a baby, providing bereavement support and working to prevent future baby deaths. Sands provides a free national helpline, a network of support groups, online forums, and resources, while asking campaining for better maternity safety, conducting research, and working with healthcarw professionals and the government to support through miscarriage and baby loss.
