For Freya: Supporting Families Through Baby Loss
On 21st February 2022, our family experienced a loss that changed us forever.
My beautiful niece, Freya Leoni Gwyer, was born sleeping.
There are no words that can truly describe the pain of that day. It was the saddest, most heartbreaking time for our entire family, but especially for my sister and brother-in-law, who lost their precious daughter, and for my niece and nephew, who lost the sister they were so excited to meet.
Stillbirth is something no family ever expects, and yet it affects so many. It comes with overwhelming grief, confusion, silence, and a loneliness that is hard to put into words. Life continues around you, but your world has stopped. Freya will always be part of our family, always loved, always remembered, and her absence is felt every single day.
I am fundraising for SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity) because they support families through the unimaginable. They provide vital care, support, and understanding to parents and families who are navigating the devastating loss of a baby. They also work tirelessly to raise awareness, fund research, and help reduce the number of babies who are taken from us before or shortly after birth.
For families like ours, charities like SANDS matter more than words can say. They offer compassion when there are no answers, and support when the pain feels unbearable.
If you are able to donate, no matter how small, you will be helping to support bereaved families and ensure that no one has to face this journey alone. Your donation is not just money, it is comfort, understanding, and hope for families at their darkest moments.
Thank you for taking the time to read Freya’s story. Thank you for remembering her. And thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for any support you are able to give.
For Freya. Always loved. Always remembered.
