100k in September for Sands
This September, I’ve signed up to walk 100km to raise money for Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity.
Pregnancy loss and baby loss affects so many people — parents, families, friends and those around them — often far more than we realise. Sands provides vital support to anyone affected by pregnancy loss or baby loss, while also working to improve maternity care, fund research and help reduce the number of babies who die.
So, throughout September, I’ll be getting my trainers on and attempting to clock up 100km — accompanied for many of those kilometres by Star, who will no doubt assume this entire challenge has been organised purely for her benefit. She may be considerably less impressed when she discovers that stopping to sniff every blade of grass doesn’t actually help with the kilometre count.
100km might not sound enormous spread across a month, but fitting the kilometres around work, children and everyday life will definitely be a challenge — and a very good reason to get out and keep going, even on the busy and rainy days.
I’d be incredibly grateful for any sponsorship, however small. Every donation will help Sands continue its hugely important work supporting families when they need it most.
