Running for Sands – In Memory of Our Baby Girl, Nova

This year, I’ve decided to lace up my running shoes for a cause that means the world to me and my partner – Sands, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity.

Sands is a charity that works tirelessly to support families who face one of the most devastating experiences imaginable: the loss of a baby. No parent should have to go through that pain alone, and yet thousands of families each year find themselves navigating this heartbreaking journey. Sands is there for them – offering a lifeline of support, guidance, and comfort during their darkest days.

Sadly, this is something my partner and I know all too well. We lost our beautiful baby girl, Nova, and our lives changed forever. The grief of losing her is something words can’t truly capture. It’s a pain that never disappears – we carry it with us every single day.

That’s why this run isn’t just about miles or finish lines. It’s about honouring Nova’s memory, raising awareness, and helping other families who find themselves walking the same heartbreaking path. The funds raised will go directly towards:

• Supporting families with practical and emotional help when they need it most.
• Funding research to better understand the causes of baby loss and prevent it in the future.
• Training healthcare professionals so parents receive the best possible care and compassion.

Every step I take will be for Nova, for the parents who’ve lost their little ones far too soon, and for the babies who will never be forgotten.
