Run 2k a Day in February 2026

I’m running 2k a day in Febuary for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this February for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

Adeline

Thursday 29th Jan
In February, I will be running 2km a day to raise money for the @sandscharity who supported us when Adeline died.

Although Sands provides numerous avenues of support, Simon and I found most value out of the Weekly Sands groups. It gave Simon and I a safe space to talk to other bereaved families about our experience and navigating our lives through the early stages of being part of 'the shittest club on earth'. In the meetings there was no judgment; no expectation to contribute; no head tilts with the words 'I'm sorry' attached to them; no awkward glances; no relaying of stories where someone is trying to relate to your situation but in fact only causes offence. We were able to cry, be angry, laugh, share memories, seek advice in a safe space with those who also understood exactly what we were going through. Most importantly, we were able to say Adeline's name aloud. Loud and proud. Our first daughter, who sadly was not able to stay.
.
.
We made the decision from day 1 to make sure Adeline was always a part of our children's lives. Talking about her, celebrating her birthday, including her in some way in our Christmas festivities. And sure, they ask questions. They're are young and inquisitive. But they have embraced her as part of their lives despite having not met her. Because to keep her a secret, in our eyes, would not be accepting that she existed. She was here. And would equally feed into the societal nature that baby loss and talking about baby loss is awkward and a taboo subject. And that view needs to change.
.
.
.
2km a day may not be a lot. And I am a small fish in an extremely large pond. But I am helping one step at a time to help break down the barriers and change the taboo nature surrounding baby loss. Also, helping Sands provide the support that bereaved families desperately need when they are navigating through the darkest days of their lives.
