During Baby Loss Awareness Week (9th–15th October), I’ll be taking part in the Ribbon Run and challenging myself to complete a 10K to raise money for Sands, the UK’s leading pregnancy and baby loss charity.

Pregnancy loss is something that affects so many families, yet it can often feel like a lonely journey. The heartbreak, grief, and uncertainty that come with losing a baby can be overwhelming, and it’s a pain that stays with you forever.

Baby Loss Awareness Week is a time to remember and honour every much-loved baby who is sadly not here today. It is also a time to raise awareness, break the silence surrounding pregnancy and baby loss, and show support to families whose lives have been touched by grief.

After experiencing losses myself, I know how important it is to have support, understanding, and somewhere to turn during those difficult times. Sands provides exactly that. They offer support to bereaved families, help raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss, and fund vital research to improve pregnancy outcomes and save babies’ lives.

Taking on a 10K is a huge personal challenge for me but I’ll keep going because I know why I’m doing it. I’m doing it for my babies, for every much-loved baby gone too soon, and for the families who carry them in their hearts every day.

I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and turn my experiences into something positive. By raising money for Sands, I hope to help ensure that other women, partners, and families receive the support they need when they need it most. No one should have to navigate pregnancy loss alone.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help Sands continue their incredible work supporting bereaved families and improving care for those affected by pregnancy and baby loss.
