Jacobs Bridge the Gap Ribbon Run

This Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October), the Bridge the Gap network is proud to support the Sands Ribbon Run to raise awareness and funds for an issue that affects far too many families.

Bridge the Gap is our colleague-led network dedicated to supporting employees through key life moments, including family planning, pregnancy, parental leave, caring responsibilities and the transition back to work. We aim to create a culture where people feel supported through both the joyful and challenging aspects of family life. Sadly, for many families, the journey to parenthood is affected by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby, which is why supporting Sands is so important to us.

In the UK:

• Around 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage.
• Every day, approximately 13 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth.
• Thousands of families each year experience the devastating loss of a baby during pregnancy, at birth, or in infancy.

Despite how common baby loss is, many people continue to suffer in silence. By supporting Sands, we can help raise awareness, provide vital support to bereaved families, and contribute to efforts to save babies' lives.

Sands exists to support anyone affected by the death of a baby before, during or shortly after birth, whenever this happened and for as long as they need support.

💜 £20 could provide a memory box, helping bereaved families keep safe lasting reminders of their baby.

💜 £35 could answer a call from someone reaching out for support following pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

💜 £100 could help ensure every hospital in the UK has access to a dedicated Sands volunteer who can support healthcare professionals with training, guidance and care.
