Why am I doing the Ribbon Run!

I’ve committed to taking part in the Sands Ribbon Run for Baby Loss Awareness Week (9–15 October) 💞💙, in memory of every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Baby Loss Awareness Week is a time to remember the babies loved but never born, and to support families going through the heartbreak of pregnancy loss. In memory of all these babies, please light a candle tonight 🕯️. Forever and always, our baby bear 🐻❤️💙.

On 28 September 2017, my beautiful baby Watkinson gained their wings after being diagnosed with Anencephaly, a condition affecting 1 in 2,000 pregnancies in the UK, where parts of the brain or skull don’t develop properly. At my 12-week scan, I was told this condition was sadly fatal, and I faced one of the most heartbreaking decisions I’ve ever had to make 💔. Baby bear will always be my favourite “what if” 🌟. Mummy loves you 😘.

Sands provide essential support for families facing this tragedy, campaign for change, train healthcare professionals, and fund research to prevent future baby loss. Every donation helps:

  • £10 – could provide a hand and footprint kit to help create memories.
  • £20 – could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to keep precious memories safe.
  • £35 – could answer a call from someone reaching out after pregnancy loss or baby death.
  • £100 – could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to support healthcare staff.

To support this incredible charity, I’m committing to 10,000 steps a day from Monday 20th October to Friday 24th October to raise money and awareness. Anything you’re able to donate means so much. Thank you for helping remember and support families like mine.

💞 Final Day – Sands Ribbon Run Complete 💙

Friday 24th Oct

That’s it — challenge completed! Over the past five days, I’ve walked in memory of my beautiful Baby Bear 🕊️💗 Every step has meant something special, and I’m so proud to have taken on this journey for such an incredible cause.

Here’s how my week looked:
👣 Day 1: 10,141 steps
👣 Day 2: 10,074 steps
👣 Day 3: 13,089 steps
👣 Day 4: 10,246 steps
👣 Day 5: 12,117 steps

That’s a total of 55,667 steps, covering around 44.5 km! 🏃‍♀️✨

This week has been emotional, meaningful, and full of reflection. Every walk was a moment to think of my Baby Bear and all the families who have experienced the unimaginable. 💗

Your donations and support mean so much more than words can say. Every penny raised will go towards Sands, helping them provide vital bereavement support, memory-making resources, and research that could help save babies’ lives in the future. 💙

To everyone who’s donated, shared, or simply sent kind words — thank you from the bottom of my heart. You’ve helped turn grief into something powerful, full of love and purpose. 🌈

Although the challenge is complete, the awareness and love will always continue. 💫

Forever walking with love for my Baby Bear 💗🐻

Day 4 update 💙🩷

Friday 24th Oct
Time has completely run away with me today 😅 but I still managed to hit 10,246 steps! ✅

That brings my total so far to 45,946 steps, which is around 29.7 km — meaning I’ve got just 10.3 km to go to reach my 40 km goal! 👣💪

Every single step is for all the precious babies gone too soon and the families who carry them in their hearts every day 💙💞

Please keep those donations coming — every little bit truly helps Sands continue their amazing work supporting families through baby loss 💕

Day 3 – Target Smashed! 💪✨

Wednesday 22nd Oct

Day 3 of my Sands Ribbon Run and I’ve absolutely smashed it today! 🩵

By 5:20pm, I’d already hit 10,497 steps, but after a busy evening at work, I kept going — finishing the day on an amazing 13,089 steps! 🙌 That brings my total so far to around 33,000 steps, which is roughly 26.5 kilometres walked for this incredible cause.

That means I’ve got about 13.5 kilometres (around 17,000 steps) left to go until I reach my 40km goal! 💞

I’m so grateful for everyone who’s donated and supported me so far — your encouragement truly keeps me going, especially on long days like this. If you haven’t had the chance yet, please consider making a small donation to help Sands continue their vital work supporting families affected by baby loss. Every penny really does make a difference. 💗

Day 2 – Another 10,000 Steps Complete! 💪💞

Tuesday 21st Oct

Day 2 is done and dusted — another 10,000 steps walked for the Sands Ribbon Run! 🩵 That brings me to a total of 20,000 steps, which is roughly 16 kilometres so far!

I’m so grateful for all the lovely support and sponsorship — every message and donation keeps me motivated to keep going, especially knowing it’s all for such a special cause close to my heart. 💖

With 24 kilometres (around 30,000 steps) still to go until I reach my 40km goal, I’m feeling determined and ready to keep moving! 🚶‍♀️✨

If you haven’t already and would like to support this wonderful cause, please consider donating — every little bit truly makes a difference and helps Sands continue their incredible work supporting families affected by baby loss. 💞

First 10, 00 steps completed

Monday 20th Oct

Day 1 – First 10,000 Steps Done! 💪💖

I’m so proud to say that by 4pm today, I officially hit my first 10,000 steps for the Sands Ribbon Run! 🩵💞 That’s around 8 kilometres walked — and every single one of those steps was for a cause that means so much to me.

A huge thank you to everyone who’s sponsored and supported me so far — your messages, donations, and encouragement truly keep me going. 💕

I’ve now completed 8km out of my 40km total goal, which means I’ve got 30,000 steps (around 32km) still to go over the next few days. Let’s keep the momentum going!

Here’s to walking with purpose, raising awareness for Baby Loss Awareness Week, and honouring all the little lives that mean so much. 💙💗
