I'm fundraising in aid of Sands, for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
Thank you.
Climbing Through Grief — Welsh 3000s for Sands
On 1 September 2026, my family experienced something I wish none of us ever had to go through.
After nine weeks of pregnancy, we lost our baby to miscarriage.
There are losses in life that are difficult to put into words. This is one of them.
A miscarriage can happen before the world has even had the chance to know that a baby existed, but that does not make the loss any less real. There is still a baby that was loved, hopes that were created, and a future that parents had already started imagining.
And then suddenly, that future is gone.
For many people, grief after miscarriage can be incredibly lonely. People may not know what to say. Others may not understand the depth of the loss. Sometimes the person suffering the most is expected to simply carry on.
But grief doesn't work like that.
So I'm going to climb.
On 17 September 2026, just 16 days after our loss, I will take on the Welsh 3000s — a challenge involving 15 Welsh 3,000-foot peaks, approximately 40 kilometres of mountain terrain and around 3,000 metres of ascent.
My personal target is 15 hours.
I know this will be physically and mentally difficult.
But this challenge isn't about proving that I'm stronger than grief.
It's about taking one step at a time while carrying it.
Every mountain will represent something different.
The pain.
The love.
The memories.
The questions.
The people who are struggling silently.
And the simple decision to keep moving forward.
I'm raising money for Sands.
Sands supports people affected by pregnancy and baby loss, helping families through some of the darkest moments of their lives and working to ensure that nobody has to face that grief completely alone.
I want to help raise not only money, but awareness.
Because miscarriage is not something that should be brushed aside.
It is not something parents should be expected to simply "get over."
And nobody should feel ashamed of grieving a baby they never got to hold.
I am sharing this part of my family's story because I believe people need people.
If someone watching this has experienced miscarriage, stillbirth or baby loss, I want you to know:
You are not alone.
If you're supporting someone who has experienced it, don't be afraid to talk to them. Sit with them. Listen. Let them grieve. Sometimes you don't need the perfect words. Sometimes simply being there is enough.
And if you are able to donate, every contribution, however small, will help Sands continue supporting bereaved families.
If you can't donate, you can still help.
Share this fundraiser. Talk about miscarriage. Talk about grief. Let people know that they don't have to suffer in silence.
On 17 September, I'll climb those mountains carrying more than a rucksack.
I'll be carrying grief.
I'll be carrying love.
And I'll be carrying the memory of the little life that was with us for nine weeks.
One step at a time. One mountain at a time.
Rise. Fight. Conquer.

Cezar, I am so incredibly proud of you for taking on this climb. Every step you take up the rugged paths of Yr Wyddfa carries so much meaning, honouring your family and raising vital support for Sands. When your legs get tired and the trail up Snowdon gets steep, remember the strength that brought you to the starting line. You are hiking for every family who has walked through the dark, and your strength is helping Sands show them they aren't alone. You’ve got the grit, the heart, and the purpose to make it all the way.Take it one step at a time, Cezar. I’ll be cheering you on the whole way in Wales. You’ve got this!
