I’m walking 100K in March for families facing baby loss
After thinking that this year was going to be full of happiness with a baby on the way, we decided to book an early scan as we were so excited to see our little baby on the screen. All that happiness and excitement was soon replaced with heartbreak and grief as we were told the words nobody wants to hear. " I'm sorry there is no Heartbeat"!
Two more scans later at the hospital confirmed our baby had died and I had had a "missed miscarriage " where my body hadn't registered that the baby had died so I still had all the symptoms and feelings of pregnancy. After being handed loads of leaflets we then had to pick a treatment option to start the miscarriage. We decided together and we picked the medicated route. Another week passed and another scan was arranged where we were told we had miscarried the baby but not all the pregnancy tissue so it was just a waiting game until the rest came away. We are walking 100km each in march to make awareness for pregnancy and baby loss and to also speak out about our own experience. It is a very lonely and challenging time and this is one of the charity's out there that can help.
1 in 4 pregnancys end in a miscarriage and so many women / couples / families go through it in silence. This is still such a taboo subject for people to talk about yet its happening everyday. We are here to create awareness and show that IT IS OK to talk about miscarriage and baby loss.
It is still all very raw for us.We are devastated and trying to find our way through this grief. Completing the 100km walk will be part of our healing journey and doing something together in memory of our Baby.
Thank you for your love, support & donations.
