I’m walking 100K in September for families facing baby loss
I’ve committed to walking 100K in September for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
Thank you.

100km of Love and Remembrance
Monday 24th AugThere are steps we take in life that are easy—quick trips to the shop, morning walks with a hot cup of coffee, or pacing around the house while on the phone. And then there are steps that carry a weight far greater than distance alone.
This month, I am taking on the challenge of walking 100 kilometres to support Sands, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity. This cause is deeply personal to me because I have walked through the heartbreaking pain of losing a baby. It was, without a doubt, the most difficult time of my life—a darkness and a sorrow that forever changes who you are.
Every single year, thousands of families have their worlds shattered by the sudden, devastating loss of a baby. In an instant, nursery doors remain closed, tiny clothes lie unworn, and arms that were ready to hold a precious life are left impossibly empty. The grief of losing a baby is a heavy, quiet ache that one that often feels difficult for the outside world to speak about, yet one that parents carry with them every single day.
That is why Sands exists. They are a lifeline in the darkest hours, offering compassionate support to grieving families, funding vital research to save babies' lives, and raising awareness so no family has to navigate this heartbreak alone.
Walking 100 kilometres is a physical test, but every step is fueled by purpose:
- In Memory of My Baby & Every Precious Life: Honoring the tiny lives that left us far too soon, who will never be forgotten and remain loved beyond measure.
- To Support Grieving Families: Ensuring that no parent, grandparent, or sibling has to process their grief in isolation.
- To Fund Hope: Supporting research and clinical improvements that help prevent this heartbreak for future families.
As my feet hit the pavement and the kilometres begin to add up, I’ll be holding my baby in my heart and thinking of every family whose strength inspires this journey. One hundred kilometres is a long way, but it is nothing compared to the journey of healing after loss.
If you are able to support my challenge, whether by making a donation, sharing my page, or simply sending words of encouragement—it would mean the world to me and to the families who rely on Sands. Together, we can ensure that every baby is remembered and every family gets the support they deserve.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for walking alongside me in spirit.
