I’m walking 100K in September for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to walking 100K in September for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

2020 was supposed to be the year that everything came together. Little did we know how it would turn out. 
It wasn’t a good year for the world, for us it was a journey of joy, hope, anxiety, despair and grief. 
After so many losses, to finally get to experience the feelings of just seeing a bump, feeling a kick, planning for the future, it felt like the stars had finally aligned. 
That feeling came crashing down when a PPROM  started in August, waters breaking in the middle of the night and knowing what could come next. 
The hospital sent us home to wait for the inevitable, but no, there wasn’t going to be any sitting around and waiting. Instead, it was a mission to do everything possible to give a little bit of hope. 
I recall going to the shop each day for 5pints of coconut water to be consumed. Scans every other day at the hospital, but having to wait in the car due to Covid rules. 
September 13th 2020 and Darcie Jean Cliffe was born. A true fighter, coming out with a cry but then rushed away for emergency aid. 
4.1/2 hours later and we had to make the heart breaking decision to turn off the breathing aid and hold our little fighter to the end. 
Due to Covid restrictions, Darcie was buried with just us there, she deserved to be known and remembered and so whenever possible an event like this not only helps others but helps me do it in Darcies name. 
I know she is at rest with her Mummy now and so this is for my little Princess.
