2026 Ribbon Run Virtual

I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run

I’ve committed to taking part in Sands Ribbon Run which takes place during Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October) for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.

£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.

Cecilia’s story

Wednesday 23rd Sep
February 2022; the 15th day, our gorgeous girl came into the world and lit a fire in our lives. Cecilia-Grace was planned for, wanted and loved beyond measure. For 9 months, 288 days to be exact, Cecilia filled our days with vibrancy, joy and so much love. She made Bentley a big brother and they absolutely adored each other. They still do.
Cecilia’s story doesn’t end with a tragic accident or a long illness that had us preparing for her death. Cecilia simply fell asleep one night and didn’t ever wake up. We find comfort in the fact that she didn’t suffer, she didn’t know what was coming, she just fell into a forever sleep, peacefully.
Peacefully for her and her only. For us, it was the beginning of the most agonising thing we’d ever experience. The physical pain that manifests from such a loss is indescribable. But if we had to endure that pain so Cecilia could slip away peacefully then I would take it over and over. If I could swap places, I would in a heartbeat, if I could go back and hold onto my darling girl all night long, so maybe things would be different, I’d have already done it…  but I can’t, so I hold on to the fact that she felt nothing.
Cecilia’s death changed me forever, it would be odd if it didn’t!
The loss of our gorgeous girl has made me more compassionate, more resilient, more grateful but also more angry.
I will not let my daughter’s memory die with her, I will continue to say her name, tell everyone I can all about her and honour her at every chance.
I have 3 children, Cecilia has an older brother and a younger sister, her younger sister is now older than Cecilia ever got to be ..but she is still Cecilia’s baby sister and always will be.
We love you bigger than the universe, longer than forever ❤️
