Walk 100k in March 2026

I’m walking 100K in March for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to walking 100K in March for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

A message from the heart

Saturday 7th Mar
When most people see the two little lines on a stick, it brings excitement, joy, and dreams of how life is about to change for the better. Families begin imagining their future and preparing to welcome their new little bundle of joy.
However, not many people will be aware because it is far less discussed is the heartbreak that happens every day with the loss of a child. The news can be sudden and devastating, but the process that follows is often painfully slow. The care that must take place for the would-be mother and family during this time is incredibly difficult.

Imagine losing your child and then being cared for in the maternity ward, surrounded by celebrations and new life, while your own world feels like is falling apart.

Sands have been raising awareness and funds for a long time. They help support families who lose children whether it’s through support services or funding for separate bereavement wards in hospitals; they aim to ease that torment. They also provide training for midwives and research to help less babies die.

I am aware of the general scepticism surrounding charities, but I can tell you first-hand about the good work Sands are doing, and they are probably being modest of their website!

While the campaign is called “Saving Babies,” the truth is they are also helping to save mothers and fathers, supporting them through the most devastating experiences imaginable.
