2026 Walk 100k in September

I’m walking 100K in September for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to walking 100K in September for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

Our story 💜

Sunday 16th Aug

Hi, I’m Ashleigh.

I never imagined that one day I would be writing a blog about my fertility journey, or that something as simple as becoming a mum would become one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to go through.

For the last six years, we have been trying to grow our family.

Six years of hoping. Six years of waiting. Six years of negative pregnancy tests, appointments, treatments, questions and wondering when it would finally be our turn.

So when we finally saw those two lines on a pregnancy test, the feeling was indescribable. After everything we had been through, we were finally going to have our baby. We were over the moon. It felt like the moment we had been waiting years for.

But our happiness was short-lived.

At the beginning of 2025, we found out that our pregnancy was ectopic. Our first pregnancy, our first positive test, our first time believing that we were finally going to become parents — and we were faced with the devastating reality that our baby could not survive.

We lost our baby.

There really aren’t words to describe what that feels like.

Then, at the beginning of 2026, we found ourselves facing another ectopic pregnancy.

Our second pregnancy. Our second loss.

This time, it also meant losing one of my fallopian tubes.

Two pregnancies. Two babies lost. And another piece of our journey to becoming parents made even harder.

I think one of the hardest parts of baby loss is that the world doesn’t always realise how much you are grieving. To everyone else, life carries on. But for you, everything has changed.

You remember the dates. You remember the hopes and dreams. You remember the moment you saw that positive test. You imagine the person they might have become. And sometimes, even the smallest things can bring it all back.

We are still trying to become parents, and I still hold onto the hope that one day we will get our happy ending.

But I also know that I don’t want our babies to be forgotten.

That is why I have decided to take part in the SANDS 100k in September.

Throughout September, I will be walking 100 kilometres to raise money and awareness for Sands.

For me, this isn’t just about walking 100k.

Every kilometre will carry a little piece of our story.

It will be for the babies we didn’t get to bring home.

For the families who have experienced a loss that nobody should ever have to experience.

For the parents who are learning how to carry grief alongside everyday life.

And for our two little babies, who will always be a part of our story.

I know this journey won’t be easy. Some days the walking will be tiring, and some days it will probably feel emotional. But if sharing our story can help even one person feel a little less alone, then it will be worth every step.

So throughout September, I will be putting one foot in front of the other — 100 kilometres for baby loss, for remembrance, for awareness, and for hope.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and thank you to anyone who chooses to support me, whether that’s through a donation, sharing my fundraiser, joining me for a walk, or simply keeping us in your thoughts.

Every step means more than you know. ❤️
