2026 Ribbon Run Virtual

I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run

I’ve committed to taking part in Sands Ribbon Run which takes place during Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October) for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.

£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.

The Story of Eve

Wednesday 16th Sep
On the 2nd of January 2024, I had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured at around 10 weeks and caused me internal bleeding which almost killed me. I had no clue that I was pregnant until 2 days before on New Years Eve, but I felt that something was wrong as I had the symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy, as I had pain in the lower right side of my pelvic area and in my right shoulder blade. But I really hoped with all of my heart that I was wrong and that everything was normal. Because of the bank holiday, they could not scan me straight away to check.

Then when it ruptured, it caused me the worst physical pain that I have ever felt. I went to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford to the Women's Centre and had both external and internal ultrasound scans. I got to see other parents leaving happy with scans of their healthy babies, so I was really sad because of what was happening. Then I was taken for an emergency operation to remove the baby and my right fallopian tube. We managed to take her home to lay her to rest, but had to wait for her tests to be done.

We called her Eve Chloe Jackson. Eve means life, living or to breathe and her middle name Chloe means fertility, blooming or fresh growth. She was born and died on the 2nd of January 2024 at 10 weeks old. She is loved beyond words and will be forever.
