I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run

I’ve committed to taking part in Sands Ribbon Run which takes place during Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October) for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.

£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.

My Updates

In memory of Aurora Elizabeth Healy

Tuesday 22nd Sep
Hello to whoever is reading this,  whether you are reading this to support me through baby loss awareness, you are going through this yourself or if you are intrigued to find out a little more about what you can do to help.
Here’s a little bit about me, my family and Aurora’s story. My name is Antonia,  I currently have  a wild, loving 4 year old son, an energetic, thrill seeking 1 year old son that are with us today and my beautiful angel baby girl, Aurora who would be 2 and a half.
We lost our beautiful baby girl when I was 36 weeks pregnant. Nothing abnormal or  to worry about all the way through, then one day i woke up and I knew Aurora hadn’t. She used to dance in my belly dusk til dawn, then one morning she just stopped. I want to share my story so mums and families out there know that life carries on and so do our little angels memories.
Here’s a little poem:
We had to say goodbye before we even said hello or hear her first cry,
there’s not a day I don’t think about what could of been,
and how she would of been part of our family, our team.
There’s not a day I don’t think of her,
Sometimes it’s really hard to bare,
All the things we would of done,
To hear my baby girl say mum, mum, mum!
You’ve got to smile through all the pain,
count your blessings and dance in the rain.
We don’t get long in life until it’s over,
Then I will join my baby girl Aurora.
Until then you have got to live your life,
Unfortunately baby loss awareness isn’t rife,
Now I will leave you with a final thought,
Should baby loss awareness be taught?!

My goal from this is to raise awareness which is unfortunately so common. Every life matters and is worth talking about, everyone has a story or knows of someone who has gone or going through this pain and suffering. I believe that baby loss awareness should be taught at schools as part of education, not to upset or distress the youth of today but make them aware of life’s challenges.

After Aurora was born I decided to make a difference to help save little lives through life skills, by teaching baby and preschoolers how to swim. This has brought such joy, excitement and pleasure to my life knowing, I am making a difference for the little lives that are with us today.  Please find it in your heart to talk to someone what you are going through, this is about raising awareness. Thankyou so much for reading Auroras story, I hope this brings a happy tear to your eye and a positive outlook.  If you could please donate to this amazing cause it would greatly be appreciated.

Thankyou,
Antonia, the boys and Aurora x
