I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

This January will see what would have been the 21st birthday of my beautiful first son, Louis.

I can think of no better way to mark this milestone in his memory than to raise awareness for all the parents who have also sadly lost their much loved babies.

To do this, I’ve committed to running 2k a day this January.

Ironically, I may not get a chance to complete the challenge because of a need for surgery but in the event of this, I will pass the baton across to Louis little sister, Edith who will do the challenge with me.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

Tuesday 20th Jan
I'll  be honest. I'm feeling pretty let down by my body right now. 2 Km a day. That's all I'm asking it for. But it is pushing back. Hard. It is harbouring a disease which is growing and needs to come out. It is getting in the way of life somewhat.....it's not dangerous, just extremely painful.
But I won't be beaten.  So here it is. 2 km. Really slowly. But some days just are like that. 🩵👣

Day 19 - 3km at a moderate pace

Monday 19th Jan
...but my watch didn't upload 🙄
Manually entered activity and screenshot in photos....🙈

Day 18 - Plan 'B'

Sunday 18th Jan

Sadly body state dictated low intensity today (roll on surgery date!!) So in case I don't manage it later, this is my current 100% effort 😬 🙏🩵

P.S. this has been upgraded to plan 'A' as body state won 😖
Still......regardless, one foot in front of the other... and 2k completed...👣🩵

I did not want to run today. But I did...

Saturday 17th Jan
Today, I did not want to run. I felt my age 😖.
But it reminded me of those early days after Louis died, not wanting the day to begin. And that's why we do this every day. To remember those who have to wake up every day even on the days that they don't want to have to think about or do anything.
This is to remind those in the early days after loss, that 'those' days will be fewer with time.

Just keep going.

And take each moment one at a time.

One foot in front of the other. 👣🩵
