I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run
I’ve committed to taking part in Sands Ribbon Run which takes place during Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October) for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
Thank you.
£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.
£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.
£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.

Ribbon Run 🩷💙
Saturday 10th OctToday, I ran 5.5km towards my #RibbonRun for @sandscharity.
To be completely honest, I was a little emotional this morning before even lacing up my running shoes. Pain and grief don’t really ever go away, even after six years. Today, my thoughts were entirely with our little bub—wondering who you would have been, what you would have liked, and how old you'd be now.
Having a miscarriage during my first pregnancy completely broke me, in more ways than I could ever write down. Experiencing that kind of loss during COVID-19 times certainly didn’t help matters either. I don't think I've ever felt more alone than being put into an ambulance, taken into the hospital alone, and having zero contact with my husband for over eight hours while we lost our baby.
When the world felt completely upside down, the charity I chose to turn to was Sands.
They helped. They helped me understand my grief, gave me a safe space to process everything, and helped me educate myself. That is why I am so deeply passionate about advocating for them, especially during Baby Loss Awareness Week.
Ever since I signed up for my first Ribbon Run, Sands has gone above and beyond to support me. Whether it’s checking in to ask how I’m doing, offering a listening ear when things get heavy, or congratulating me on donations, it honestly means the world. Being able to give something back to an organization that held me up when I was at my lowest is an absolute privilege.
This is for my bubs, and for all the other babies that were taken far too soon.
To anyone going through this:
- You are never alone.
- You are never forgotten.
So, this morning, when I was feeling totally overwhelmed and emotional, I did something a little unconventional—I took advice from my kids' favourite TV show, Bluey:
- Have a little cry.
- Pick yourself up.
- Dust yourself off.
- And keep on going!
And that is exactly what I am going to do. I’m going to run for the rest of this month to raise awareness for baby loss, and try to raise as much money as I possibly can for such a vital, much-needed cause.
A massive thank you to everyone who has donated already. Your kindness and generosity mean everything to me. 💓
