A little update on Robyn’s fundraiser

When we first launched this fundraiser, we set a goal of £250 — a small way for us to honour our beautiful daughter, Robyn, and give something back to a charity that supported us during the most heartbreaking time of our lives.

Thanks to your kindness, generosity and support, we have now raised an incredible £863 for Sands. 💜

To everyone who has donated, purchased our book, shared our posts, or taken the time to read Robyn’s story — thank you. Every single act of kindness has meant more to us than we can put into words.

When we lost Robyn, Sands was there to support us through moments we never imagined we would face. The care, compassion and understanding offered to bereaved families is something we will always be grateful for, and knowing that Robyn’s name is helping that support continue for other families means so much.

A special thank you to everyone who has bought a copy of our book. Every copy has helped us share Robyn’s story, and the royalties from each sale are being donated to this fundraiser. We have also added £6 of our own for every book sold, because we wanted each copy to help make an even bigger difference.

Robyn was only with us for a short time, but the love she has created has been enormous. Her name has been spoken, her story has been shared, and her memory is being carried by so many people.

Wow. We are truly lost for words.

Just hours after launching Robyn's fundraiser, we reached our initial fundraising goal.

Robyn was named after my dad, Rob, and it means so much to know that her name is being carried forward by so many people.

Our book is published.

Holding this book in my hands is something I never imagined I would have to do, and yet it exists because our daughter, Robyn, existed.

The cover was designed with her in mind. Purple is the colour we wrapped her in. The butterflies are a tribute to the butterfly room — the bereavement suite where we were given precious time together as a family after she died. The bees reflect Flutterbay, my small entomology business, which has become another way of finding beauty, meaning, and remembrance in fragile things.

We were cared for in that room, given time with Robyn, hand and footprints, and a memory box filled with precious keepsakes. Those acts of kindness are part of why we are raising money for Sands, whose support helps families facing the unimaginable.

In memory of our daughter, Robyn

This fundraiser is in memory of our daughter, Robyn, who was born after I went into labour three months early with PPROM and a placental abruption.

Robyn’s life was heartbreakingly short, but she was deeply wanted, profoundly loved, and she changed everything. She made us parents.

In the grief that followed leaving hospital without her, I began writing poetry to process what felt impossible to hold. Those poems became a book — written from love, grief, and survival — in Robyn’s memory.

After her death, we were given time with her in the butterfly room as a family of three — a quiet space where we could be together. During that time, we got hand and footprints of our beautiful girl (a £10 donation can provide this for another bereaved family). We were also given a memory box filled with keepsakes (a £25 donation can provide this), and a support pack with a Sands grief guide and resources for the months ahead (a £50 donation can support five families with these packs).

These small acts of care meant more than words can express in our grief, and they are part of why we are raising money in Robyn’s memory for Sands, who support anyone affected by pregnancy and baby loss through counselling, peer support, training, and research.
