I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

Eden Walls 4th June

Friday 26th Dec
#rawpost

It’s been a year and a half since we lost Eden at 20 weeks old. We saw the heart beat, we felt the movement and we watched the growth.

Nothing prepares you for that still moment in the ultrasound room “there is no heart beat”. Being given a pill to induce labour and sent home to go through the process of birth as if you were going to experience joy and life at the end of the journey . The traumatic experience of holding your own baby asleep in your arms whilst deciding what name to put on the birth/ death certificate and deciding what to do with your own child’s body is something that I wish nobody had to experience.

I’m running 2km each day in January for Eden and also for myself and my own mental headspace because I will never get over the loss of my baby.

Although I am incredibly fortunate to be able to have welcomed Albert into the world I’m not going to pretend that by any way Eden will ever be replaced or that at times it’s not hard thinking about the life that could have been.

I understand that for some people it’s difficult to comprehend because my baby didn’t physically breathe in Earths fresh air.

But they were here, in every heart beat and kick felt, in every nauseous moment, in every dream of the future and in every moment of emptiness in the snowdrop suite as my baby lay next to me in a frozen crib awaiting Heaven’s bed.

A mothers love is deep, the nurture and love involved in growing a baby. The connection that occurs before they even enter the world is significant. Losing Eden has changed me as a person and I want to be able to support mums that go through a similar experience. Because birth is meant to be a beautiful journey and although birthing Eden showed beauty through strength and love it also showed pain. Every mum deserves to know that this journey in life isn’t guaranteed.

Please sponsor this worthy cause so that we can make a difference in saving our future and supporting fellow mums 🫶🏻

I love this idea. Such an incredibly worth cause, and hopefully the action of you doing this both for Eden and other families trying to come to terms with such a tragedy, will help with your healing process, too. So with much love from us both - go Girl, go...! Xxx
