In memory of Archie 👼🪽💙

13 years ago, our first child, Archie, was stillborn at 41 weeks and 5 days, a baby deeply loved, but never brought home.

For a long time, this was something we held close. Not hidden, but private. Grief doesn’t disappear — it changes shape, softens at the edges, and settles into everyday life.

Now the girls are old enough to understand, we recently shared this part of our story with them. Telling them about their big brother was emotional — for all of us. They asked questions, cried, listened quietly, and took time to process something so big.

They speak his name, ask where he fits in our family, and wonder about who he might have been. It’s reminded us that love doesn’t end because a life was short — and that remembering is not something to fear.

The girls and I have decided to join this SANDS challenge to run 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby.
