I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss
In 2026, I’ll be raising funds for Sands, through the medium of running, which I’ve slowly developed a knack for these days. Me and running, I can’t believe it either!
It’s a cause very close to me and it was to Ange as well. In 2016, our beautiful boy Dylan was born sleeping at 30 weeks and it hurts every day that he didn’t get the chance to grow up and carve his own path in the world. Any donations raised goes towards research and knowledge which drives forward improvement to save babies’ lives, support bereaved parents like us, ensuring that hospitals have Sands volunteers to work with healthcare professionals and they have access to the research and support that Sands have built.
Donations would be great, but I understand that it’s awkward at the moment with Christmas just behind us, but I am a big believer in the word of mouth. Sharing, spreading the word and raising awareness is just as powerful. For instance, if you tell five people about this and they each tell five people, that’s 25 people already in the know. Mentioning this to somebody or sharing the link on social media is a contribution.
If all of Ange’s friends, family, work colleagues, everybody could help broadcast this, I would be eternally grateful.
From January 1st, I’ll be running 2k (at least) each and every single day of the month, and I’m hoping to do these runs in different areas, circumstances permitting, just to make it a little more interesting and possibly more picaresque. I’m hoping to step to this physically and whilst it may not seem much right now, I’m hoping this shakes off some ring rust, the nut roast and drink overkill and get me ready for something bigger in the summer. On New Year’s Day, my first 2k will actually be a 5k with parkrun at West Park.
Thank you for reading this. I know I’m a lot to handle.
All is love.
