I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Why?!

I am running 2km per day in January to support SANDS and remember my son George, who was sadly stillborn on his due date 16 years ago. My first born son, the child I only held when he was cold, the grief of losing my boy will never leave me, I have just learnt to carry the scars. Sadly, George’s death could have been prevented had I been listened to on the 30+ occasions I attended hospital in the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy. A mother’ instinct is stronger than any heart rate monitor! Whilst there have been improvements sadly too many babies still lose their lives, too many families are robbed, so raising money will help SANDS continue to support parents like me when they need it the most. I still remember the early days of grief like it were yesterday and SANDS were invaluable at helping me get through days that I honestly didn’t think I could or want to get through.
