I’m walking 100K in September for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to walking 100K in September for every much-loved baby sadly not here today🤍

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Biggest walk to date

Friday 13th Sep
This was a glorious day and I did a stonking 10.3 Kms. Starting to pick up pace but I’m feeling it too, which I want too! Ended up walking down the pier to admire the clear sea & well,why not enjoy and the make the most of all that’s around you 🤷🏼‍♀️

Walk 6 - The walk full of temptation

Friday 13th Sep
This was a super chatty after school drop off walk. I had to be super strict with myself as all I wanted to do was go and get in the sea. It was STUNNING 😍.
Saw lots of Mums and beautiful babies on the beach soaking up the last of the early autumn sunshine.

Walk 5 - Lakeside walk

Friday 13th Sep
This was a different walk. A bit of street walking and then the obligatory waterside view that I seen to crave. 6.5 Kms with a fair amount of wind and a little bit of rain but I snuck it in before dinner so that’s a win 🙌

Walk 4

Wednesday 11th Sep
Getting it done 🙌 Would you say in spite of or despite the changeable weather. It started to rain on the last leg but the walk was already in the bag ✅ Getting in a cheeky 5.6 km to add to the tally. Every little slither of time is being utilised for this. For me it’s not my daily steps by walking for a purpose. Thanks for being behind me for this challenge and this worthy cause 🙏

Early evening walk - 3

Monday 9th Sep
Today was me showing myself I can be determined and carve out time to do things that are priorities. Donations mean I can’t fail or back out of this. Regardless of the weather or if I’m having a meh day.

Each and every one who has sponsored me is expecting me to do what I said I would. So I walked.

It was an absolutely balmy early autumnal evening. I am so glad I went. Another 6k down 🙌 

Walk two

Saturday 7th Sep
This was a shorter walk with the sunshine dancing across the sea - such a beautiful sight. I’ve been shocked by when I explain what Sands charity do how many people open up and share a personal story with me. This truly has touched us all in one way or another and the support and help needs to be there for the families in their time of need. Not everyone has chatty friends to talk to or they want a professional to help them ‘make sense of’ what they are enduring. Thank for your support ❣️

Walk One

Friday 6th Sep
The first walk.

Did this one with my brother. Felt good to be starting to chip away at the the k’s. 

I’m recovering from shingles and it was a real struggle BUT that’s what makes it a challenge.

We stopped off at the Hikers Cafe for a quick refuel and then marched as best as I could back. 

We spoke about all the people we know who have been affected by baby loss and how it feels good to be doing something to help. Talking & walking therapy is great ❤️‍🩹

I was physically broken when I got home. Lay down on the sofa and promptly feel asleep,  with my shoes on 🫣. Smaller walks until I feel like me again.
