I’ve committed to walking 100K in September for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

The photograph used for my profile picture is of myself and my beautiful dog Cassie on the beach on Christmas Day 2024. I’m smiling for the camera for an instagram story, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. Two days before this photo, I was in A&E miscarrying my first pregnancy at 11 weeks. My husband Lewis and I were going to tell our families our baby news on Christmas day, we never got the opportunity. I brushed it off and carried on, determined to be normal and enjoy the rest of the festive period. Little did I know, four months later, I would have my second miscarriage at 12 weeks.

Unfortunately, miscarriage and baby loss are both something that most of the women close to me in my life have experienced. I had no idea how common miscarriage was, until it happens to you or someone close to you, you don’t really think about it.

In the time between that second miscarriage and trying to convince again, I’ve been determined to enjoy my summer, filling my diary with fun things that make me happy. When I saw the 100KM challenge, I thought I’d really enjoy taking part, and it will be a lovely way to raise some money for a pregnancy & baby loss charity. I am absolutely not a runner, I can’t think of anything I’d like to do less! Walking my dog is something I do every day, so Cassie will be coming with me on my 100KM.
