Running 2k a day in Jan to raise awareness of, and support Sands baby loss charity

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today. This is a cause close to my, and a few close friends' hearts.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

My Updates

Half Way!!!

Thursday 15th Jan

Halfway there and still going strong.

I have officially reached the halfway point of my charity run for Sands, and while I will be honest, my legs are feeling it and the aches are real, I am absolutely determined to keep going.

This challenge was never meant to be easy. Pushing through the tired legs and sore muscles is part of it, and it is a small reminder of why I am doing this in the first place. Every step is for families who have faced the unimaginable pain of baby loss, and for a charity that works tirelessly to support them through grief, provide critical bereavement care, and drive vital research and awareness.

Sands does incredibly important work. They support parents when they are at their most vulnerable, help improve maternity care, and campaign to reduce the number of babies who die before, during or shortly after birth. That work matters. It changes lives.

So I will keep lacing up my trainers, keep moving forward, and keep aiming to hit my fundraising target. Thank you to everyone who has supported, donated, or sent encouragement so far. It genuinely makes a difference and keeps me going.

If you would like to support or share the cause, I would be hugely grateful. Every contribution helps Sands continue their vital work.

Onwards to the finish line!!!

Thursday 8th Jan

Day 8 of my 2k-a-day January challenge for Sands, and I’m still going and motivated, a little stubborn, and now very aware of my calves. The first few days felt easy enough; today’s run comes with that familiar ache that says, “keep moving.”

Why I’m doing this: Sands supports anyone affected by baby loss and works with hospitals to improve bereavement care. They run a helpline, peer support, and training for professionals, and they fund vital research so fewer families have to face the unthinkable. It’s a cause close to my heart and to loved ones around me, which makes each kilometre feel purposeful even when it’s cold, dark, and my legs would rather not.

If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, it genuinely helps. Think price of a coffee levels: it all adds up to real support for families and better care across the UK. If you can’t donate, a share or a cheer in the comments is just as appreciated and keeps me accountable for the daily 2k.

I’ll keep posting honest updates through the month...good runs, tough runs, and everything in between. Thanks for reading and for any support you can give.

Running for a Cause

Sunday 14th Dec

This January, I’m setting myself a small but meaningful challenge: running 2k every day in support of Sands, the baby loss charity.

I’m doing this in memory of, and in solidarity with, a couple of my close friends who have recently experienced the heartbreak of baby loss. No words ever feel sufficient in moments like these, but showing up, moving forward, and supporting organisations that provide vital care and understanding feels like a positive place to start.

Sands does incredible work supporting families through the unimaginable, and if this challenge helps raise awareness, funds, or even a moment of reflection, then every kilometre will be worth it.

If you’d like to follow along, support, or donate, I’d be very grateful. Most importantly, this one is for the babies, the parents, and the friends who carry them in their hearts every day.
