I’m jogging 31 miles in May for families facing baby loss.
I’ve committed to jogging 31 miles in May for my beautiful granddaughter, Lily.
In September 2024 I was told the amazing news that I would become a Nanna in March 2025. We were all very excited about this new addition to our family. On the 15th March 2025, my granddaughter, Lily, was born sleeping.
I was never aware of the help and support that people received when their baby was still born. SANDs charity is providing the much needed support that my daughter and her partner needs in this very difficult time. Supplying a box full of things that could be used to make as many memories as possible in the very short time that we had with her. This made a huge difference to the very limited time we had. It meant a great deal and gave us all so much. But it's not just the support that they provide, they also conduct research to prevent these situations arising.
So why am I running 31 miles in May? When I found out that I was going to become a Nanna, I started to put my health first to ensure that I could see her grow up. I started “Couch to 5k” and attended the gym on a regular basis. When we lay Lily to rest, her parents asked if we could make donations to the SANDs charity in her name. I followed the group on Facebook and this fundraising event popped up. Perfect, keeping up my fitness, for Lily, while supporting an amazing charity.
I want to do my little bit to support this charity in ensuring that more research can be done to prevent anyone from going through this but also to be able to provide the support for the families of ones that have their babies born sleeping.
So I am asking for a small donation for my fundraising efforts for this charity as I run 31 miles for our Lily.
Thank you.
