I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

My aim is to donate £1 for every km i run. The set goal is 62km - 2km for every day in January, but I'm going to try and run more than 2km each day to raise more.

About our pregnancy journey.

Friday 19th Dec
For those that know me, already know our story.
For those that don't me, our fantastic mini human is a rainbow baby. In fact, I guess he was a 2 time rainbow baby.

Our first pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage - apparently this is the result for every 1 in 6 pregnancies. We thought getting pregnant was easy!

Our second pregnancy was an ectopic pregnancy. My wife's body did everything it needed to do and thankfully she didnt have to undergo surgery, but the physical and emotional toll was a lot, I will admit.

Thankfully 3rd time was the charm and we were able to see this pregnancy all the way to the end!
We now have a 2 year old who is loving life! But his start in life was still very bumpy.
Immediately after being born, we were told he had a blockage in his stomach so he would essentially starve to death without medical intervention. He was taken to Southampton Neonatal, whilst mum was recovering in Basingstoke hospital. The surgery that he needed to help him had 3 outcomes, and it upsets me to this day, and they were: Success / Fed through tubes for the rest of his life / Loss.
You know the end of the story for us as ive already said we have a 2 year old who is loving life and casuing the usual carnage a 2 year old boy comes with!

BUT

Not everyone is as fortunate. That is why im going to try and raise money for sands. Take a look and see what they can offer.

If you stuck around, thanks for reading.
