We’re running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

We have committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

Crossing the finish line on her final run!

Sunday 1st Feb
Meena deserves all the praise for getting us through this month, she was always happy to run - rain, snow, cold, late, she ran through it all and never stopped smiling. I’m so proud of you Meena-Mai, we have raised an extraordinary amount of money for a great cause - thank you from the bottom of our hearts everyone!

Strava streak 🙏🏻

Saturday 31st Jan
Felt like it was going to be a real slog on days 5, 6 and 7 but this month has absolutely flown by. A few days rest now until we go out for a trot again I think.

Day 31!

Saturday 31st Jan
Fin. What a month, what a huge amount of support we have had. Thank you everyone who has sponsored.

Day 30!

Friday 30th Jan
£600! Wow! A steadier run tonight, we may have eaten pizza before and regretted it. Last one tomorrow!

Day 29

Thursday 29th Jan
Last three days! What a great month we’ve had, some days have been tough, wet, cold and a real challenge but some days have been incredible, inspiring and very rewarding. Each day Meena has done her run with a smile on her face and inspires me to try my best every single day.

Day 28

Wednesday 28th Jan
Mad rush today, straight from work out the door and on the road so we could get our run done before swimming. Done in good time and good spirits, never complaining, we're just happy to be moving.

Day 27

Tuesday 27th Jan
Furthest distance tonight, post kickboxing with Mila, both ran with smiles on their faces and want to carry it on after we finish our challenge. 2.5km tonight, might eek a little more out the last few days…

Day 26 - £500 smashed!

Monday 26th Jan
Wow, what a day, faster and faster again today and more and more raised today! Last few days of this challenge and what a month it has been.

Day 25

Sunday 25th Jan
Fastest run yet, some intervals to start with and then a quick finish meant we finished under 15mins for the first time ever! Pushed on by an absolutely incredible week of fundraising and being so close to that £500 target! One very happy smiley girl and a very proud daddy.

Day 24

Saturday 24th Jan
Finally some sunshine! A beautiful run down riverside and another great day of donations (I feel like we say that everyday, but we are so grateful). Meenas legs were heavy today, and I struggled to get going but the sun was worth it and we felt great afterwards as always.

Day 23

Friday 23rd Jan
Little jolly down through town for Friday nights run. We blasted Taylor Swift and had a great time tonight. Another great day of donations thank you everyone, we can’t believe that we might get to £500.

Day 22

Thursday 22nd Jan
A nice quiet run tonight, we barely spoke just got our heads down in the rain and cracked on. High fives all round once we’d finished. Meena is absolutely over the moon with everyones donations - thank you again!

Day 21

Wednesday 21st Jan
Smiley happy girl! Over £250 now, a great, very late post swimming run but we got it done, a fast km and a steady chatty km.

Day 20

Tuesday 20th Jan
Post kickboxing accompanied by Mila today! Both absolutely smashed it and seemed to be buzzing after a tough last 500 metres. Another great day of donations today - thank you!

Day 19 - OVER £200 RAISED

Monday 19th Jan
An interval session today, running and walking, fueled by the news that we’d smashed our huge £200 target! A very proud girly and a very proud Dad. Thank you everyone!

Day 18

Sunday 18th Jan
Finally some daylight! Fastest 2km today so far, one little walk at the half way point, Meena really enjoyed today’s run after a tough week. Big smiles all round over half way now and absolutely buzzing with the amount raised - thank you everyone!

Day 17

Saturday 17th Jan
Late one after another busy day that also included lots of walking and standing (watching Gainsborough Trinity) - but we went out for a separate 2km walk together to track our walk and stick to our promise. I really hope we run in the daylight tomorrow.

Day 16

Friday 16th Jan
Steady one tonight after swimming - both over the moon with everyone’s kind donations! Looking forward to running together in the daylight this weekend.

Day 15

Thursday 15th Jan
Meenas first unbroken kilometre! Wow did she smash tonight’s run! Half way through today and after a hard week getting out and getting them done tonight was special. Well done Meena!

Day 14

Wednesday 14th Jan
Pre-swimming warm up today, mad dash to make a loop that would get us here on time but we made it. Onto tomorrow!

Day 13

Tuesday 13th Jan
8:30pm, post kickboxing, getting it done together. Meena smashed it tonight, proud of her everyday.

Day 12

Monday 12th Jan
Dark, late, getting it done. Meena started really well tonight, she was disappointed towards the end, but once I explained how far she had already come in less than two weeks she could appreciate her progress.

Day 11

Sunday 11th Jan
How the turn tables now I’m the one that’s ill, couldn’t not go out after Meena went out when she was ill without complaint. We just did what we could today, Meena ran really well but the driving wind and cold was not conducive to an enjoyable run.

Day 10!

Saturday 10th Jan
Back running today - albeit intervals - and feeling good for it. Meena pushed really hard in the running intervals (possibly sibling rivalry as Max joined us today). Really proud of her for getting though the last few days and getting those cold walks done, now three weeks of running fingers crossed.

Day 9

Friday 9th Jan
On a dark dark hill in a dark dark town, but we got it done. Three days of walking has paid off and Meena seems slightly brighter today so hopefully I can coax a run out of her over the weekend!

Day 8

Thursday 8th Jan
Another slow steady one, this time in the dark. We’re both looking forward to seeing the back of this flu and getting back to running. Meena still in good spirits even though the walks are hard work and we’re both ready for a lie down afterwards.

Day 7 - Walk day

Wednesday 7th Jan
Meena is off school ill (along with everyone else in the house), so we wrapped up super warm and took a steady stroll around our local woods. Back home for a hot chocolate and a lot of rest.

Day 6

Tuesday 6th Jan
Today we did 200m intervals, alternating running and walking. We had agreed to only walk today to let Meena rest a little as her body aches, but after school she was inspired to run as much as she could after having some positive reinforcements from her teachers who have so kindly sponsored her. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored so far!

Day 5!

Monday 5th Jan
Snow day! Some slippy paths and hard day for Meena - straight from school trying to race the sunset. I’m proud everyday of her for showing up and trying her best.

Day 4

Sunday 4th Jan
Very scenic run today with few hills and lots of views, a run I think Meena will remember for a long time. She absolutely smashed the last 500m and sprinted the finish!

Day 3

Sunday 4th Jan
We took a scenic route through the woods today, Meena really doesn’t like hills but she keeps going and always has a smile on here face.

Day 2

Friday 2nd Jan
Meena officially decided to join up today and has pledged to run 2km a day with me in hopes of raising as much money as we can for a great cause
