I’m walking 100K in September for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to walking 100K in September for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Why I’m doing this

Baby loss is close to my heart both personally and professionally. 
On 28th August 2019 we lost our little one at 8 weeks. 
I know it was early on but that doesn’t take away the hopes and dreams we had. 
I carried on as normal, taking my step kids out the next day and going to work the day after that. 
I didn’t want to talk about it, I was actively trying for a baby and felt if I got too upset it might happen again. 
We were blessed with our Son the following October which I will be forever grateful for. 
However it didn’t take away the pain for that initial baby loss. 
Over the next couple of years I supported two of my staff members through baby loss and was frustrated by the lack of compassion in our local policies to support them. 
I also encouraged them to be open and share their feelings, something I couldn’t do for myself. 
Walking/running this 100K feels like something to do to bring me closer to the baby I lost and to begin to be open about the very real impact this can have on lives and relationships.
