I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

The Wettest Windiest Day in January

Thursday 15th Jan
Well that was an interesting one today!

Trainers filled with water, wet socks and toes ... another 2+K in the bag! Officially over half way tomorrow! I wonder what the UK weather will bring for the next few runs!

Almost half way!

Wednesday 14th Jan
Wow! I genuinely can't believe I'm almost half way through doing a run every single day!

Running has always been my least favourite form of exercise! Ha! Who would have thought!

Most days it's been extremely wet, windy and icy! But there is something incredibly liberating about being outdoors as the skies pour down!

Olivia has done quite a few of the runs with me, which completely distracts me as she insists on bringing her scooter! I'm lucky it hasn't cut me up and sent me arse over tit yet as she zig zags the running route!

I'm pushing myself to go further and who knows, I may even get back to a 5k before the end of January!

A big thank you to everyone who has sponsored me, every little bit makes an immense difference to Sands.

Day 1 - The 1st Run

Thursday 1st Jan
This morning was my first run for Run 2K a Day for Sands 🧡
I knew I wanted to join when I saw their post a few weeks ago, but very almost didn’t commit.
I’m not at my fittest right now — my body is still finding its way nearly 5 months postpartum and everything still feels very different.
And honestly, the biggest thing holding me back was my mindset — wondering can I really do this every single day? and being scared of letting myself (and others) down.
That first 2K was hard! But this challenge isn’t about pace, performance, or proving anything. It’s about showing up — even when it feels uncomfortable — and holding space for families who have experienced the unimaginable.
Sands is a baby loss charity, and this is about awareness, remembrance, and support — not achievement. If anything, I’m sharing it because sometimes just getting out of the door is the win.
One day, one run, one step at a time 🤍 For the babies gone too soon. For the families who carry them forever.
