I’m going to attempt to run 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

I’ve stupidly committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Having experienced baby loss myself in 2006 this charity is something close to my heart. I am lucky to have two amazing children post baby loss, but not everyone is so lucky. SANDS supports parents through one of the toughest times and ensures that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby.

If you are not in the position to donate then that is cool, but I would like to raise awareness about the impact of baby loss on parents and on friends and families.

Alternatively, anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you, love you all muchly!!!

Laura (and Rosie who has said she will do some runs with me 😉)

Thanks to everyone who has helped support me and donate to SANDS. Every penny helps research and support for bereaved parents. So thank you all I am very grateful and humbled be everyone’s generosity. Much love! Xxxxx

Almost at the half way point!

Wednesday 14th Jan
Approaching day 14/31 and my legs have started to feel it. I know 2km isn’t very far at and it only takes 15 minutes, but I don’t think I’ve run this many days consistently since 5 years ago.

I am overwhelmed with the donations I have received. People have been incredibly generous!

Week one done!

Wednesday 7th Jan
So week one, 2km is complete. It’s not far but running everyday is pretty annoying. Especially in the dark after work. But I am enjoying getting back out there again. Looking forward to another 24 days 😁

Day 6/31 and OMG you people are amazing!

Tuesday 6th Jan
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated! Smashed the target! I still have 25 more days to run and counting them down already 😂

Day 5 was hard on the knees!

Tuesday 6th Jan

Background and a big thank you 🙏🏼

Sunday 4th Jan
Back in July 2006 I unexpectedly became pregnant. But it was one of the most amazing wonderful surprises we could have hoped for. Unfortunately we later found out our much loved and wanted baby had passed away, the future we had imagined was not to be. This was a horrible time in my life and undoubtedly affected myself, my partner and my family massively. I didn’t have anyone to turn to and felt so isolated. To know now that charities such SANDS exist than can support parents, families and friends is so important. Until I had gone through baby loss myself,  I had no idea what a massive impact it has. I would love to be able to remember my baby loss, and the loss of many other babies and the impact this has in a positive way, by raising awareness and much needed funds into researching baby loss and how to support those affected. Any money raised will genuinely go to support people feeling sad, lost and alone. So to everyone who has supported me thank you. I know it’s a stupid lame running challenge of 2km a day when people are out there running ultras. And i fucking hate people begging for sponsorship all the time. But it’s important to me, and important to all the other families navigating a horrific journey of baby loss. So again. I see you. I thank you. And here’s to the next 27 days 💔

Day 4/31 done. A cold one today. 🥶

Sunday 4th Jan

Day 2 done, with No.1 daughter for company.

Friday 2nd Jan

Day 1/31 done 👍🏼 2.4km

Thursday 1st Jan

Legs still work, but only just.

Monday 22nd Dec
Very slow 3km jog this morning to check the legs still work. They did, but barely! 🙈

Thankyou

Saturday 20th Dec
Thank you both for your initial contributions. It’s been great to get the ball rolling with some fundraising. Now I actually have to train for it 😂xx

The beginning

Wednesday 17th Dec
It’s December, it’s cold and dark. I haven’t run for months and my fitness is terrible since changing jobs in March. Maybe that’s why I thought this would be a good idea? Maybe it’s because I’ve personally been affected by baby loss and know what an impact it has?. If I can run 2k a day for the whole January and raise a small amount to help an incredible charity then why not. Fuck it, let’s give it a go.
