I’m jogging 31 miles in May for families facing baby loss

I’m committing to jogging 31 miles in May for my much loved and longed for little Baby Bub who sadly could not continue growing.

I was given a little memory box in the Early Pregnancy Unit where I keep my one and only precious scan photo. The box came with other sentimental items too which is such a nice touch and really does help. Especially for people who have lost their pregnancy early as it helps their baby feel valid. £25 can provide one of these boxes to a grieving family.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

My Updates

It was all going too well 🙈

Wednesday 28th May
I said at the start of this challenge that for once in my life I was listening to Dale on his advice of slow and short. That soon went out the window when I thought I'd just push myself and started to run faster and further. I've now buggered my right knee up! Planned to run 2 miles tonight then finish on the final day on Sat with a 5k park run. I haven't ran tonight as my knee has been hurting all day in work 🙈 Hopefully after another days rest from running and a better night sleep I'll be able to manage it tomorrow. Regardless, I am finishing this challenge. I will complete this challenge by running and not walking even if I end up limping!

Week 3 ✔️

Sunday 25th May
Thank you all so much for supporting me! This week I ran along the sea front in Devon early morning with the sun shining and the feeling was incredible, one to remember. Yesterday also ran my furthest distance yet of 4 miles! Tonight I ran my fastest 1 mile too 😁 I am super proud of myself. I hadn't ran consistently in years and years and I am much heavier than I used to be all that time ago. I am feeling so much fitter than the day I started this challenge and I really do look forward to my runs 😊

Just 6 more days to go and 7.3 miles. I want to do my first ever park run next Saturday as my last run, as I've never had the confidence to do one before!

My beautiful Azalea with Baby Bub has finished flowering for this year. The leaves will stay though until it flowers again next year, continuing to grow with me in a different way 💗

Week 1 ✔️

Thursday 8th May
If you're reading this, thanks for stumbling onto my fundraising page 💗 I'm on Week 2 of my challenge and really loving running again! I think mainly because for once in my life I've listened to Dale and tried to keep at a slower pace just to keep things nice and steady and not push myself too far so it spoils the rest of the challenge! My hips were bit achy after my first run but been ok since. I have a labrum tear in my right hip that used to cause me no end of grief, since being pregnant with Theo and probably the loosening of my pelvis, the pain mostly disappeared! So I'm running for fun, not time and it's working wonders for my mental health.

Thank you SO much to all you wonderful people who have supported me and donated to this brilliant charity 🧡💙 I've always admired Sands since working in Antenatal Clinic 11 years ago and first learning about what they do. They help support women and families through pregnancy loss of all gestations, Stillbirth and also Neonatal Death. This challenge just popped up on my facebook news feed one day, shortly after suffering pregnancy loss myself last month and I just knew I had to do it. For me and my mind, for my little baby bub to be recognised and to help raise some money to continue supporting many others.

Thanks again for supporting me. I'm enjoying this so much more than I imagined 🥰
