I’m walking 100K in March for families facing baby loss
I’ve committed to walking 100K in March for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
Thank you.

My Reason
Sunday 1st Mar Those who are really close to me know why this charity means so much, but to those who don't know me..... In September last year one of my sons and his girlfriend announced they were pregnant and we were all so excited, the first grandchild, niece or nephew and their first child. Roll on to 10 weeks and everything was perfect, strong heartbeat, good size, just wonderful. They were offered an appointment for after 12 weeks, which they gratefully accepted, any chance to see their little baby, but unfortunately the little ones heart had stopped beating, no explanation, no reasoning and absolutely no signs of a miscarriage. This meant that there were 3 options: tablets to encourage a miscarriage, oxytocin to bring on labour or a d&c. As a scared 18 year old, my sons gf chose a d&c, honestly I would have done the same myself. This then meant that they had to continue the pregnancy for another 4 days until they could get a bed in a suitable hospital to have the procedure done. Thankfully all went well and the mum is recovering well physically. We are in the process of arranging a cremation for the babies remains, my son and his gf asked me to take photos of the baby in case they ever feel strong enough to see him / her. I can genuinely say it's one of the hardest things I've ever done 😢. I've spoken to people in Sands a few times, just making sure I was helping my son and his gf deal with everything the best I can, and also helping my own grief at losing a grandchild. The work Sands does is fantastic and every donation helps a family facing the worst time in their lives, so, please, if you can, make a donation, thank you 😘 ShareThank you to my Sponsors
