I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

2k a day in January

Wednesday 24th Dec

This is a cause that sits very close to my heart, one that I never truly understood until it touched my own family. Until my sister tragically lost her first child, I hadn’t fully appreciated just how little support exists for mothers facing the unimaginable pain of baby loss. It’s something you assume is handled with care and compassion, yet when the moment comes, the reality can feel painfully different.

Watching my sister navigate those early days of grief opened my eyes to the gaps in support, particularly within hospital settings. While medical staff do their best, many hospitals simply aren’t equipped to provide the emotional care and long-term guidance that bereaved mothers so desperately need. In moments of profound loss, a kind word, informed understanding, or continued follow up can make a world of difference, yet too often, mothers are left to cope alone once they leave the ward.

Losing a child is a pain no woman ever truly “gets over.” It becomes part of who she is, woven into her life forever. But with the right support, compassion, and awareness, mothers of angel babies may find ways to live alongside their grief rather than be consumed by it. By talking more openly about baby loss and advocating for better support systems, we can help ensure that no mother feels forgotten during the darkest chapter of her life.

So, far those reasons, I shall dust off my running shoes and complete 2k a day in January to raise money for this wonderful cause. Any support would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
