My target 16 kms
On Monday 31st August, Tia should be celebrating her 16th Birthday. She would spend the day with her friends, maybe head to the beach, maybe to the cinema, or maybe just a quiet one with mum, dad and her two siblings.
We do not know why Tia died. She was 7lb 8oz, full term and perfectly formed. We do not know why her life ended before it had a chance to begin. We do not know why our family has four seats at the dinner table, when it should have five.
But we do know that our love for her will never diminish. That she continues to bring our family together in so many ways. That she is looking after her two younger siblings every day.
So, the four of us will walk 16KM with Tia in our hearts every step of the way.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
We appreciate your messages and cards on her day - it means SO much to us to know that Tia remains in the thoughts and hearts of our family and friends.
