Why I’m doing this

On 10 April 2024, our lives changed forever.

My partner, Rebekah, and I attended our first scan together, excited and expecting to see our baby for the first time. Instead, we were given the devastating news that no parent ever expects to hear: our baby’s heart had sadly stopped beating.

Rebekah was 13 weeks pregnant. It was a silent miscarriage, meaning there had been no clear warning that anything was wrong. We still don’t know exactly why it happened.

Rebekah then had to go through the incredibly emotional and difficult experience of giving birth to our baby. It was truly heartbreaking for us both and remains something that will always be part of our lives.

Our baby was due on 10 October 2024. Although we never had the chance to meet them or watch them grow up, they will always be loved, remembered and part of our family.

What I’m doing

In memory of our baby, I will be taking on Tough Mudder In Manchester(Cheshire) on Sunday 11th October 2026.

Tough Mudder is an obstacle-course challenge involving mud, water, running, climbing and physically and mentally demanding obstacles. It won’t be easy, but that is exactly why I have chosen it.

Every mile, every obstacle and every difficult moment will be for our baby and for every family who has experienced the heartbreak of pregnancy or baby loss.

Why I’m supporting Sands

Sands supported us during one of the darkest and most painful periods of our lives. Their support helped us feel less alone while we tried to process what had happened.

We also have family and friends who have experienced the loss of a baby and who are supporting Sands through their own fundraising. Sadly, pregnancy and baby loss affects far more families than many people realise.

Sands provides compassionate support to anyone affected by pregnancy or baby loss. This includes bereavement resources, a national helpline, online support and local groups where families can connect with people who understand what they are going through.

The charity also works to improve the care bereaved families receive, train healthcare professionals, support research, campaign for change and help save babies’ lives.

How your donation will help

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help Sands continue supporting parents and families when they need it most.

Your donations can help Sands provide emotional support and information to bereaved families, offer helpline and community support, improve bereavement care, train healthcare professionals and support research aimed at preventing more babies from dying.

I am funding my own Tough Mudder place, so the money donated through this page will go towards supporting the vital work carried out by Sands.
