Why I’m Running 2k a day in January!
Wednesday 24th DecOn 16th October 2024 we lost our first baby to a miscarriage. It was the most traumatic deeply upsetting day of our lives. We felt a huge hole in our heart for baby we had so many hopes and dreams for. We have since been given the greatest gift with the healthy arrival of our twin rainbow babies on October 12th 2026! 🌈🌈
A question we are often asked is “are these your first?” But we can never forget the first we nearly had. In memory our twins’ big sibling we lost a year ago I’m joining SANDS challenge of running 2 k every day in January. And with any luck I’ll get some of my pre-birth fitness back too.
1 in 5 pregnancies will end in miscarriage. SANDS funds research to help prevent baby loss, miscarriage and still birth. For example side lying whilst sleeping in the third trimester and ultrasounds to identify high risk pregnancies. They also provide support to bereaved parents including a free helpline and memory boxes. As well as running Bereavement Care training for healthcare professionals and supporting NHS trusts to implement the National Bereavement Care Pathway.
We would greatly appreciate any donations to help SANDS continue to funding research lifesaving research and support bereaved families.
