I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

My Updates

My reason

Thursday 1st Jan

The last couple of years have been the hardest of my life. As many of you know, Sophie and I have been trying to build our family. In that time, we have suffered through two miscarriages and Sophie has battled major medical complications.

For a long time, I fell into a trap that I think a lot of partners fall into. I looked at Sophie’s physical pain and told myself, "This is happening to her. My job is just to support her."

I didn’t realize that by thinking that way, I was burying my own grief. It took a long time, and honestly, it took talking to people—opening up about the loss—to realize that this didn't just happen to Sophie. It happened to us. It affected me deeply, in ways I wasn't ready to admit until recently.

Now that I’ve started talking, I want to start moving.

The Challenge:

I am challenging myself to run at least 2km every single day for January to raise money for SANDS.

SANDS supports anyone affected by the death of a baby and promotes research to save babies' lives. They are a light in the dark for families like ours.

If you have a few spare pounds, please consider donating. And if you are a partner going through this silently—please talk to someone. You don’t have to carry it alone.
