I’m walking 100K in March for families facing baby loss
I’ve committed to walking 100K in March for every much-loved baby sadly not here today, including our little Olive.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
Thank you.

Our 1 in 4 story
Tuesday 10th FebWe found out we were pregnant on 2 July 2024. At the time, we already had a little girl who was 20 months old, and we were overjoyed at the thought of growing our family. We felt incredibly happy and excited, imagining the future and the life our children would share.
On 11 August, everything changed. I experienced a bleed and immediately feared the worst. We went to A&E, where we were faced with a reality so many parents encounter — miscarriage. In that moment, we became part of the “one in four” statistic, something I’d heard before but never thought would apply to us.
A week later, we learned that the miscarriage had not progressed. We were now experiencing a missed miscarriage — my body hadn’t realised that we had already lost our baby. Once again, we found ourselves on the wrong side of the statistics, part of the “one in ten”.
Yes, losing our baby has been devastating. There isn’t a day or a family milestone that passes without our baby being thought of and missed deeply. While our grief remains, we are now incredibly lucky to have welcomed our rainbow baby two months ago — a reminder that joy and loss can exist side by side.
We may have only had a very short 11 weeks with our baby, Olive. At the time that their heart stopped beating, they were the size of an olive — small, but so deeply loved, and forever a part of our family, hence the name.
We are fundraising for SANDS, an incredible charity that supports parents and families through pregnancy and baby loss with compassion, understanding, and care. This fundraiser is our way of honouring Olive, keeping their memory alive, and helping ensure that no family has to face this journey alone.
