Every Mile for Atley ❤️
On 22nd July 2026, my wife and I experienced something no parent should ever have to go through. At just 22 weeks pregnant, my wife went into early labour and gave birth to our beautiful son, Atley Gladden.
Atley was born alive, and although we only had a short time with him, those precious moments will stay with us forever. Sadly, Atley passed away later that same day. There are no words to describe losing your child. Atley may have had a short life, but he made an enormous impact on ours, and he will always be our son.
In memory of Atley, I have decided to take on the challenge of running a half marathon, raising money for Sands – the Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Charity.
Running 13.1 miles is going to be a huge personal challenge, but I want every mile to have a purpose. Every step will be for Atley and for the families who have experienced the heartbreak of losing a baby.
Sands provides vital support to parents and families following the death of a baby and works to improve bereavement care and raise awareness of baby loss. I want to help Sands continue supporting families who suddenly find themselves facing the same devastating journey that our family has. I have set a fundraising target of £1000 and every donation, no matter how big or small, will help me get closer to that goal.
