I’m taking part in Sands Starlight Walk

I’m taking part in Sands Starlight Walk as I want to help those affected by the loss of a baby to find the light in the dark. Every day 13 babies die before, during or shortly after birth. I am raising funds to help Sands continue to build a world where more babies survive, and more families receive the happy ending they deserve.

Please sponsor me and help Sands create a legacy of hope and comfort, showing the world how much every baby is loved.

Starlight Walk is a sponsored walk where hundreds of people come together to walk under the stars to remember their babies and raise funds for Sands. If you’d like to join me on this challenge, you can sign up here http://www.fundraising.sands.org.uk/starlight-walk Starlight Walk events take place across the UK or you could choose to take part virtually at a location of your choice.

On the darkest of nights, the stars shine the brightest.

Completed!

Sunday 7th Dec
Tonight I completed my 5km Starlight Walk for Sands, and I was lucky enough to share it with my wife. ✨ To make it even more special, part of our walk took us through the Ashridge House Christmas Illuminations — the perfect festive, glowing backdrop for such a meaningful cause. Every step was for the families supported by Sands and for the little lives always remembered. Thank you so much to everyone who’s donated, encouraged us, and helped keep this light shining. 💛🎄

Joined on my walk this weekend! 32km to go — and £150 raised so far for the Winter Walk (50km before Christmas Day) 🕊️✨ Sands means a lot to me because when my wife went through her ectopic pregnancy, I truly didn’t know where to turn. I had no understanding of this kind of pregnancy or loss, and it was such a frightening, uncertain time. I felt completely unprepared for the emotions that came with it. More than anything, I remember feeling helpless. I’m the kind of person who always wants to fix things, to make everything okay — and in that moment, I didn’t know how to help the person I love most. Taking on this walk feels like a way to give something back when I can’t change what happened. That’s why this challenge matters to me. Every kilometre is for the families who need a little light during their darkest moments, and for anyone who feels lost and doesn’t yet know that support is out there. If you’re able to donate, it would mean so much — and it helps Sands continue to be there for those who need them the most. Thank you for reading, and for walking a little bit of this journey with me. 🕊️✨

Why?

Sunday 23rd Nov

This winter I’m pushing myself to do something I never imagined I could do. If you know me, you’ll know walking really isn’t my thing – and taking on a challenge like this is going to be huge for me, especially with the mental health struggles that come with something so emotional and personal.

Talking about baby loss is incredibly hard. Miscarriages and loss during pregnancy are so private and painful that most people don’t even know how to start that conversation — I know I never did. It’s something that changes you, yet it often stays unspoken.

That’s why I’m doing this for Sands — an amazing charity that supports families through the heartbreak of baby loss during pregnancy and after birth. No one should ever have to go through that pain alone, and if pushing myself outside my comfort zone can help even a little, then it’s worth every step.
