I’m taking part in the Sands Starlight Walk

On Saturday 22nd November, I will be walking in solidarity with others affected by baby loss as part of the Sands Starlight Walk, Leeds.

As well as bringing a much needed compassionate voice to everyone affected by baby loss, and raising awareness, the walk is intended to raise funds for all the vital work Sands does in supporting families experiencing the devastating impact of baby loss.

From their support groups, to hospital memory boxes, to their telephone helpline, supportive social media posts and the work they do in raising awareness and support for bereaved parents, Sands works incredibly hard to try to prevent any parent/family feeling alone at the worst moments of loss.

Sands also works tirelessly to break the taboo and myths surrounding baby loss, doing all they can to give a much needed compassionate voice and support to those affected by baby loss, whilst working to prevent so many of the associated feelings of loss and isolation.

In a time of insufficient funding and struggling maternity care, Sands are absolutely invaluable.

Sands wants to create a legacy of hope and comfort, showing the world how much every baby is loved.

Your support and all donations of any size are invaluable and so greatly appreciated.

If you are able to do so, please gift aid your donations too.

Thank you.

We Did It!

Tuesday 16th Dec
Thank you so much to you all for all the support, sponsorship and kind messages. The walk was the longest, short walk of my life. The emotional toll of the event left me very exhausted and drained. It took a few days to fully recover. Although it was overwhelming at times, it was empowering too. People of all ages participated and there was something very special in looking back to see everyone's lanterns and sparkling lights beam through the darkness. It was a very individual, yet collective event. Individual because everyone walked with their own stories, in their own way.....nothing was forced or pushed. Collective because people could share their experiences in the way that felt right for them, be that a visible written dedication, through conversation, quiet togetherness or sometimes through tears. And ultimately, we all walked together with compassionate support of Sands. The charity did so much to try to create a safe space for everyone involved, and it didn't go unnoticed. To me, it only reiterated why I had wanted to Fundraise for Sands. Your support truly means the World to me because it has and will made a difference to parents and families when they need it most. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

It's Event Day

Saturday 22nd Nov
It's event day and I hardly know how to feel.
I'm walking, not just for our own loss in 2024, but in the hopes of a better, more compassionate future.
A future where parents and families experiencing pregnancy and baby loss (for any reason) are all treated with care, compassion and warmth.
Where medical professionals take the time to explain and provide accurate information, and where everyone involved is treated with dignity and compassion.
And a World that greater priortises women's health by investing greater resources in understanding why this devastating loss occurs so frequently.
I'm also walking to try to break the ongoing stigma because parents and families experiencing this devastation need a safe places to share and understanding their experiences.
No one should ever be left feel alone.
Thank you from the depths one my heart for all your support, it truly means the World and more, to me.
