I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Running 2K a Day for Sands: One Step for Every Family

Tuesday 30th Dec
This January, I’m taking on the Sands 2K-a-Day challenge in support of a charity that means a great deal to me, both personally and professionally. I have family members and friends who have experienced baby loss, and I also work as a midwife caring for many families facing this heartbreak. I see first-hand how deeply and long-lasting the impact of baby loss can be.
Sands supports anyone affected by the death of a baby and works closely with NHS staff, helping to improve the care families receive at the most devastating time of their lives. In the UK, around 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss, and the effects can be lifelong, impacting mental health, relationships, and future pregnancies.
This challenge will be a big one for me. I’m not regularly physically active, and most of these runs will be done alongside my 2-year-old in the pushchair but every 2K is a small step toward supporting families who need it most.
