I’m walking 100K in March for families facing baby loss
I’ve committed to walking 100K in March for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
In May last year we lost our first baby at nearly 14 weeks pregnant and had today endure a termination for medical reason as our baby girl was not going to make it, she was too poorly. This was one of the hardest things I have ever been through.
Fast forward several rounds of fertility treatment, failed cycles, hyperthyroidism diagnosis, ovarian reserve plummeting in the space of a year, an ovarian cyst delaying treatment, countless injections, blood tests, scans, an egg retrieval surgery and a fresh transfer… we finally got pregnant again for our try at our rainbow baby! Everything was going great, until I had a scan at 8 weeks pregnant and they told me the words no parent wants to hear “I’m sorry there’s no heartbeat”.
Lost and unsure how to move forward I turned to the sands page to look for support and it was there ready to be used, I haven’t used it yet as I’m not ready to, I feel as though I need to do something, physically, to help me through this, that’s when I saw this challenge.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
Thank you.
