I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

My why..?

Tuesday 30th Dec
Many will know, Lauren and I welcomed our second and third children in March 2025. Our twins have completed our family and we’re so lucky to have been blessed (along with their big brother,)  by 3 amazing children.

However, most won’t know that for a time, my recent twin pregnancy was actually a triplet pregnancy. At around 12 weeks we were diagnosed with a TRAP identical twin (in addition to the 2 viable babies) - a complication that happens in about 1% of identical twins pregnancies. It was found early and Mother Nature intervened to ensure I didn’t require any dangerous medical procedures and we felt immense relief that our other 2 babies were fit and well. This remained the focus of the pregnancy; deliver 2 beautiful, healthy babies. As we now pass the 9 month stage of having the twins in our lives, my head has gone to that of the triplet, who unfortunately was never viable, but who was part of me and more importantly - part of the twins, in their early stage of  their development - one of them even supporting the cardiac function of them both!

I feel fortunate that our loss was when it was, and we could channel the emotions into the remainder of the pregnancy.  I can’t imagine the pain and grief of loosing a child at any point; a loss is a loss and I am with all the parents who have gone through this horrible experience and have come out the other side.

I plan to run (and probably walk) my 2k everyday to help process my own emotions but to also raise awareness and show solidarity to those going through baby loss.
