I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run

We’re taking part in Sands Ribbon Run this Baby Loss Awareness Week 9-15 October.

On Saturday 11th October, myself and James will be walking 10km to honour our little Tommy’s existence and our wish is to give a little something back to this wonderful cause so that other families can also find comfort in receiving a special memory box, certificate of life and hand/foot prints.

We aren’t begging for sponsors/donations but of course if anyone wishes to donate via my fundraising page it’ll be really appreciated.  We’re hoping by doing this walk that we can help raise awareness about Sands and how this cause helps so many other bereaved families.

Sands exists to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, before, during or shortly after birth, whenever this happened and for as long as they need support.

By sponsoring us, you are helping Sands break the silence around baby loss and to continue to save babies’ lives.

£10 - could provide a hand and footprint kit to help create memories.

£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.

£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.

Mother of an Angel Baby Boy

Thursday 14th Aug
I never thought I would be subjected to the most heart breaking loss. Our little baby boy Tommy. Born sleeping on 31/3/2025 at 22 weeks + 4 days after finding out at 21 weeks he had no heart beat. He was perfectly formed with no genetic abnormalities. At our 20 week scan we found that he was measuring 2 weeks smaller than he should have been. Long story short, it appears that the cause of Tommy’s death was a mixture of my high blood pressure and an issue with the placenta not working as efficiently as it should have been.
Tommy has 4 older Earth side siblings a big Brother and 3 big Sisters’ who were all so excited to have him join part of our crazy gang along with all the rest of our families and friends’. But life is just so unfair. This is my first 2nd Trimester loss and we also suffered an early miscarriage back in 2013 at around 7 Weeks into the pregnancy. Just taking each day as it comes, trying to get through the most soul destroying waves of grief. Myself and my Husband/Daddy to Tommy, have decided to participate in our first ribbon race to honour Tommy’s existence and to raise some money to help give back to other families going through the same heart breaking experience. We have found that the Sands memory box, certificate of life and hand/foot prints are really comforting to have.
