I’m running 2k a day in January for families facing baby loss
I’ve committed to running 2k a day this January for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
Thank you.

Running for Sands: 2K a Day This January
Friday 19th DecJanuary is often a month of fresh starts. New routines, new goals, and quiet promises we make to ourselves. This January, I’m setting myself a simple but meaningful challenge: running 2 kilometres every day, for the whole month, in support of Sands, the charity that supports anyone affected by the loss of a baby.
It’s not about speed.
It’s not about breaking records.
It’s about showing up — every single day.
Sands is a charity close to so many hearts. Most of us know someone who has experienced baby loss: a friend, a colleague, a family member. Maybe it’s a story shared quietly, maybe it’s a pain that still sits unspoken. Baby loss is more common than many realise, yet it’s something that can feel incredibly isolating for those going through it.
Sands works tirelessly to change that. They provide support for bereaved parents, run helplines, fund research, and work to improve maternity care — all while holding space for grief that never truly disappears. Their work reminds families that they are not alone, even in the darkest moments.
So why 2K a day?
Because it’s achievable, but not easy. Some days the run will feel light and freeing. Other days it will be cold, dark, wet, or mentally heavy. And that feels fitting. Grief doesn’t take days off. Support shouldn’t either.
Every step I take this January is a small act of remembrance, solidarity, and hope. A reminder of the babies who are loved and missed. A reminder of the parents who carry that loss with them every day. And a reminder that awareness and support really do make a difference.
If you’re able to donate, share, or even join me in moving your body in your own way this month, I’d be incredibly grateful. And if this cause resonates with you quietly, personally, or painfully — please know that this run is for you too.
We all know someone who has lost.
This January, I’m running so they’re not forgotten. 🕊️
