Sole Mates ♥️

We’ve committed to walking 100K in March for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

George 🤍

Wednesday 26th Feb
On Sunday the 21st of March 2021,  at 18 weeks our baby George was born. There was no big incident, no rush to hospital. Just a quiet scan with no heartbeat, no happiness. I waited at home with my two other lovely babies while the medicine did its job and made it to hospital on a beautiful Sunday morning, through a back door and onto a busy labour ward, into the quietest room. A little crochet panel above the bed read ; God grant be the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. George was born with no big flourish or cry, no happy gasps and claps, just quiet sobs. Wrapped in a muslin blanket both our other children had been swaddled in, we got to hold him and try to imagine him and all the things he was going to be. Tiny fingers and toes, in a cold cot just trying to hold on to whatever we could for as long as possible. I think about myself as two people, Claire before and Claire after her baby died. I am not the same, how can you be? I’ve chosen to do this walk this year, to continue being this other version of myself, for George and my other babies to be proud of me. To raise money for that quiet little room away from all the lovely loud babies, to show all those midwives and nurses and counsellors that every kind word, gentle touch was so much appreciated and needed. Any donation or encouragement is all for George and his memory, for all the things he should have been and all the happiness he should have had. It’s to support other mummies and daddy’s with empty arms and broken hearts.
